The lessons in detail
Far from downtown, and that is the problem
Mercier is a residential area in the east end of Montreal, a long way from the music schools downtown and on the Plateau. For a family, a weekly lesson on the other side of the city quickly means an hour on the road, there and back. A lesson at home brings that time down to zero.
Houses with a room of their own
Mercier has many single-family homes, bungalows and semi-detached houses, often with a finished basement. That is a real advantage: a room slightly apart, where the guitar stays out on its stand, gets practised far more often than a guitar kept in its case at the back of a closet.
Children, teenagers and adults
Lessons are for every age: the child starting out, the teenager preparing a competition or a CEGEP audition, the adult who always wanted to learn. The content changes, the method stays the same: a clean tone first, then reading and repertoire.
What to have ready
- ✓ A stable chair without armrests and a music stand.
- ✓ A guitar stand, so the guitar stays out between sessions.
- ✓ A nylon-string classical guitar in the right size.
- ✓ Missing something? Mark can help you get all the required material during the lesson.
