Classical guitar lessons in Westmount

A long habit of private lessons at home

Westmount is one of the parts of Montreal where private music lessons at home have been part of the routine for a long time, usually alongside school. Homes here generally have the space, which changes something concrete: the lesson can happen in a dedicated room, quietly, rather than in a hallway.

Up to audition standard

This is also an area where students aim at a university music audition or a competition. That preparation is months of work, not a few lessons: choosing the programme according to the school's requirements, memorisation treated as a skill of its own, repeated mock auditions, and recording the pre-screening videos.

Lessons in English or French

Westmount is largely anglophone. Lessons are given in English, French or Czech, and the technical vocabulary is learned in both languages, which pays off the day a student enters a French-language programme.
