Classical guitar lessons in Outremont

Next door to a faculty of music

Outremont borders the Université de Montréal and its faculty of music. That piece of geography matters: here, a university audition is not a distant idea, it is a ten-minute trip and a jury that students from the neighbourhood face every year. The preparation is built over six to nine months, with a programme chosen according to the school's exact requirements.

A habit of private teaching

Outremont is a neighbourhood of houses and upper duplexes where musical training for children has long been part of the path, usually alongside school. Homes here generally have a room that can serve as a quiet working corner, which makes lessons at home particularly easy to arrange.

From the first lesson to the stage

The teaching covers the whole trajectory: position and tone for a child starting out, reading and theory, then, for those who want to go further, walking on stage, memorisation treated as a skill of its own, and stage nerves handled through repeated mock auditions rather than general advice.

What to have ready

• ✓ A quiet room, away from the traffic of the house.
• ✓ A nylon-string classical guitar in the right size for the student.
• ✓ A footstool or guitar support.
• ✓ Missing something? Mark can help you get all the required material during the lesson.
