The lessons in detail
A neighbourhood of musicians and artists
The Mile End is known for its music scene, its artists' studios and its recording spaces. Many people there already play a little, often by ear, on an acoustic or electric guitar. It is a common student profile: you can strum chords, but you are missing reading, right-hand technique and the tools to go further.
From self-taught to classical
That move means revisiting a few basics without starting over: the seated position, the right-hand stroke, playing with the fingers instead of a pick, reading music. What already works is kept, and what holds you back is corrected.
Schedules that are not nine to five
Between video game studios, freelancers and artists, schedules in the Mile End are rarely regular. The lesson is set around your week, and video call takes over in busy weeks or when you are travelling.
What to have ready
- ✓ A stable chair without armrests, lower than a bar stool.
- ✓ A music stand.
- ✓ A nylon-string classical guitar: a steel-string folk guitar does not suit this repertoire.
- ✓ Missing something? Mark can help you get all the required material during the lesson.
